PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The Department of Environment Land Water and Planning in partnership with the Office of the Victorian Government Architect invited architects and building designers to prepare exemplar designs for apartment buildings that will be replicable in middle suburban Melbourne environments.
This Competition is intended to generate scalable and replicable designs for apartment buildings that are great homes, great neighbours and great citizens.It aims to encourage increased housing diversity.
Indyk Architects scheme placed a North facing apartment grid which was mirrored around the centre. Circulation staggers vertically to allow different apartment scales.Parking & services are provided on ground to the South.North facing private courtyards & stepped terraces gives everyone a piece of the sky!
The large North facing rooftop provides the big backyard for the development providing opportunity for urban farming & play.
