MIRANDA EVENT CINEMA
Opened 2015
2 x V MAX + V MAX Bar + 6 x GA Cinemas + 2 x GC Cinemas + Bar Lounge
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
This cinema in Southern Sydney, established in a newly renovated and developed Westfield Mall, explores a more graphic imagery than previous cinemas, stimulated by the bold primary colour branding palette and notions of cinema.
The red curtain image of the ‘early’ cinemas has been re defined as a bold digital graphic, billowing down the concourse walls, leading the viewer to the various cinemas. The number panels into the cinemas have been influenced by the ‘old newsreel’ countdown numbering, while the geometric reverse coffer-boxes define entrances to Ticketing, and to Gold class, V max and GA cinemas. Scoop Alley-self serve, is now defined by walls lined with large format 3mm Laminam black glass tiles with the multi coloured printed striped acrylic panels overhead.
The Indyk team endeavours at each new cinema, to create a unique Event-Environment. Over 7 years of working within the cinema industry, the team have evolved a controlled palette of colours usually related to branding. This is a simple definition, which separates the GA cinemas red branding from the V MAX grey, silver and blue palette of geometric graphics, initially coordinated with Turnbull Osher graphic designers. Gold class is always a unique Bar lounge with a unique set of design items and colour palette. Indyk choose to work closely with graphic and lighting designers to enhance the theatrical nature of this cinema environment.
